Johnathan Lister died at his home in this city last night after an illness of several months, suffering from some trouble, which baffled all skill.

Mr. Lister was born in Cumberland County, England, July 20, 1837. He came to the United States in 1857 and had for twenty-five years been a resident of this county. For twenty years he occupied the farm well known as the S. H. Wilson farm, now occupied by Louie Oberlies, retiring and coming to this city a few years ago.

Mr. Lister was married to Lawson Brown in Canton, Ohio, October 13, 1864 and there were five children born to their union, four of whom are still living, as follows: Will H. of this city; Mrs. J. C. Kinney of Valley Junction; Mrs. J. M. Dickson, city; and Mrs. Wm. Stewart of Valley Junction.

Mr. Lister’s two brothers, Rev. James Lister, of Salem, Ohio, and Joseph Lister of Geneva, Ohio, were with him at the end.

While Mr. Lister did not hold membership in an of the churches or other organizations, he was known as an honest, upright citizen, who had the respect and confidence of all.

The funeral will occur from the residence at 2 o’clock Thursday, Rev. E. F. Leake of the Christian Church officiating.
