July 22, 1928 - December 18, 2012

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Friday December 28, 2012 at Newton Church of the Way
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 10-11 A.M., Friday, December 28, 2012 at the church.
Viola, the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Pross) Armstrong, was born on July 22, 1928 in Shelby County, Iowa. She lived her life in Des Moines, Creston, Red Oak, Newton, and Grant City, Missouri. Viola received her RN degree from Broadlawns Mecical Center. She worked at the Des Moines General Hospital as a Registered Nurse for 26 years. Viola was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Union Park Presbyterian Church in Des Moines and she was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston and Red Oak and the Nishna Valley Church in Red Oak. Viola was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing cribbage and cards at North Side Senior Center in Des Moines. Those left to honor Viola’s memory are her children, Kathy (Greg) Birky of Newton, Patricia (Mike) Hanscom of Des Moines, and John (Linda) Weatherly of Corning; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Gene (Mary Lou) Armstrong of Helendale, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Warner; 2 brothers; and 1 grandchild.

Memorials in Viola's name may be left at the church the day of the service or the funeral home.
