D. B. Kane Dies at 78

Rites For Fairmount, Ia., Resident To Be Conducted Friday

MONROE,IA.-Daniel B. Kane, 78, died Wednesday evening at 9:40 o'clock at the home of his son George Kane at Monroe. The elder Mr. Kane was a resident of Fairmount, Ia., and had been in ill health the past two years.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Crumpacker funeral home in Monroe.

Mr. Kane was born Dec. 26, 1861, the son of James and Sarah Kane in Jamestown, N.Y. On Oct. 14, 1891, he was united in marriage with Nancy Yoakum in Monroe, Ia., and the couple resided in Jasper county all their married life. He was a farmer and one of the oldest threashers in Jasper county.

Surviving relatives are his widow of Fairmount, Ia. and three sons, George Kane of Monroe, Perry and Leonard Kane of Newton. Another son, Herman, preceded him in death together with a brother and two sisters.

Grandchildren are Doyl, Raymond and Alferta Kane of Monroe. LeRoy Kane of Knoxville,Robert, Jean Evelyn and Geraldine Kane of Newton, and also Betty, Richard, Billy and Caroline Kane of Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, August 22, 1940, page 1.
