Funeral at Monroe For Mrs. Kane, 80

MONROE (Special) -- Mrs. Nancy Caroline Kane, 80, died Sunday in Bettendorf at the home of a son, Leonard Kane, with whom she lived. Death was due to a heart condition.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Crumpacker funeral home here with burial in the Monroe cemetery. The Rev. Russell G. Nye, Methodist pastor, will officiate.

Mrs. Kane was born west of Monroe on July 8, 1872, to James and Judy Yokum. On Oct. 14, 1892, she was married to Daniel B. Kane and the couple farmed for many years near Fairmont. After her husband's death, Mrs. Kane lived in Monroe leaving here about six months ago to live at Bettendorf.

Survivors are two sons, Perry and Leonard of Bettendorf, and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Wilks of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, George and Herman, and one brother. Mrs. Kane belonged to the Methodist church, Rebekah lodge and the Royal Neighbors. ~ The Newton Daily News, May 4, 1953, page 1.
