Sarah E. Winslow (Reynolds)
Mrs. Willard C. Winslow died at her home on West Marion Street yesterday morning at 2:30 o’clock, after a long and very painful illness.
Sarah E. Reynolds was born in Scott County, Indiana, December 18, 1842. She came to Iowa in 1849 and was left at an orphanage at the age of eleven years, making her own way in the world thereafter, a fact of which she was justly proud. She came to Newton in the spring of 1862 and her home was here from that time. She was married to Willard C. Winslow December 25, 1864, and to them were born three children, all of whom survive. They are Horace L., of Chicago, Loren E., of Lincoln, Neb., and Miss Elbertene, still at home.
Deceased united with the M. E. Church in 1862 and had therefore been a member for forty years. She was a splendid Christian woman, kind hearted and true, and will be mourned by many friends and neighbors who had lover her for years.
The funeral will occur Tuesday morning at the residence at 10 o’clock, Rev. John C. Willits conducting the services. ~ The Newton Daily Herald, Monday, September 15, 1902, Page 4, Column 4
