Melvin Lee Thomasson, age 73 of Monroe, died Thursday, November 01, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Graveside memorial services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. There will be no visitation. The son of Earl E. "Sam" and LaBertha (DeLeeuw) Thomasson, Melvin was born on January 29, 1939 in Jasper County. Melvin worked for several years at Midland Manufacturing and then at Vermeer's in Pella. Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Judy (Jack) Hawkins of Monroe and a niece Cindy Hawkins of Knoxville.
