Obituary of Mrs. Jessie Dunaway

Jessie Clark was born near Colfax, Nov. 6, 1874. She was one of 10 children of Cordelia and Lyman Clark. She was united in marriage to James Dunaway Feb 28, 1912 and has lived on a farm 3 1/2 miles east of Monroe since then. To this union two children were born, a son Norman of Monroe, and a daughter, (Ruth) Mrs. Carl Ver Heul, of Monroe.

She was a member of the Methodist church of Colfax, After her marriage she attended services at Tools Chapel.

Her husband, James Dunaway, passed away Nov. 4, 1942. She had been in failing health for some time. She was taken to Skiff hospital in Newton, Wednesday, June 17 and passed away Friday morning at 4:45.

Survivors include her son, Norman, and daughter, Ruth, one brother Louis Clark, of Colfax, and nine grandchildren.

The Rev. Everett McClellan of Boxholm, a former Tools Chapel pastor, was in charge of services. “God Be With You Till We Meet Again” and “Beyond the Sunset” were sung by Mrs. Chris Vanderpol and Mrs. Mark Woody, accompanied by Mrs. Hubert Marshall.

Mrs. John Nolin and Mrs. Dale Mullins were in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were Keith McConeghey, Elvin Nolin, John Nolin, James Marshall, Hubert Marshall, and Bert Vaughn. Interment was in Monroe cemetery.
