Many friends in Newton will be sad to know that Mrs. I. B. Carns received a message Wednesday telling of the illness of her sister, Miss Lizzie Kiddoo. Mrs. Jennie Salmon, her niece, left that evening for Emerson, Nebraska, the home of her aunt. She arrived too late to see her living and attended the funeral Friday.

A few days later her sister, Miss Fannie Kiddoo, who had cared for Miss Lizzie during a long sickness, was herself suddenly taken away to join her sister in the great beyond. Such a double bereavement to Mrs. Carns touches the hearts of all who know her. Many her are acquainted with the ladies as they have visited here a number of times and are remembered for their graces of manners and spirit.

Dr. Erving Brown of Omaha, well known in Newton, attended his aunts during their last illness. The ladies were living with their brother, James Kiddoo on his large farm near Emerson. All three were unmarried, and the breaking up of a happy home must be felt keenly by the brother left alone, even more than by the sister, relatives and friends here. The sympathy of this city is with them all in their great sorrow.
