Memorial Service: 6:00 P.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
Visitation: The family will greet friends from 4-6 P.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
William D. McEwen 68 of Gilbert, Arizona passed away at his home on May 24, 2012. He was born September 15, 1943 in Milan, Missouri to Willie and Velma McEwen. The family moved to Newton when Bill was in the fourth grade. Bill graduated from Newton High School in 1961. In September of that year he enlisted in the United States Navy and served 3 years returning to Newton in 1964. In November of 1966 he was united in marriage to his wife Barbara. They had two daughters, Melissa and Megan. Bill owned and operated McEwen Welding for 35 years and enjoyed using his skillful and creative talents to build street rods. He was a member of the Iowa Streetrod Association and enjoyed playing golf with friends. In 2010 Bill and Barb moved to Gilbert, Arizona to enjoy their retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Barb of 46 years, his daughters Melissa (Matt) Butler and Megan (Blaine) Parketon, two grandsons, Caden and Kellan Parketon. Two sisters, Janet (Carroll) Kingery and Kim Illingworth, and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family requests no flowers. Those wishing to give a memorial may do so in Bill’s name or to Hospice of the Valley.
