Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 03, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Friday, May 04, 2012 at the funeral home.
A Private Family burial will be held at a later date at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Those left to honor Fred's memory are his daughter, Angie (Greg) Van Dalen of Newton; his son, Brad Stevens of Newton; four grandchildren, Sara, Megan, and Jacob Van Dalen, and Gage Stevens, all of Newton; his three sisters, Pat L. (Vaughn) Faber of Blakesburg, Colleen Miller of Ottumwa, and Betty Dryer of Newton; and brother-in-law, Jim (JoAnna) Agnew of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and H. Bernice Morris Stevens; wife, Ruth in 1989; brother, William “Bill” Stevens; two sisters, Evanett and Beverly Stevens in infancy; and his mother-in-law, Elsie Agnew in 2011.

Fred served his country in the U. S. Army. He was a production worker at the Maytag Company for 25 years, retiring in May of 1992. Fred was a member of the Monroe American Legion; and of the UAW Post 997 Retirees Union.

Fred enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and playing pool.
