Galesburg, Iowa

Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Church of the Brethern in rural Prairie City, Iowa.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Griffis Cemetery in rural Prairie City, Iowa.

Bill, the son of Irvin and Elsie Dean (Webb) Buckingham, was born on June 4, 1924 in Fairmont, Iowa. As a child his family lived between Iowa and Colorado before making Jasper County, Iowa their home. Bill was a lifelong farmer. He was united in marriage with Nina Zickel on December 8, 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska. In addition to farming, Bill worked at the Maytag Company where he retired from in 1986. He was a member of the Brethern Church, the UAW Local 997 Retirees Union, and the Key Co-op. Bill enjoyed farming, working on and driving his farm equipment, playing volleyball and rummy with his grandchildren, and watching baseball on TV. Those left to honor Bill’s memory are his wife, Nina of Galesburg; children, George (Armenta) Buckingham of Des Moines, Terry (Jacque) Buckingham of Monroe, June Buckingham of Newton, Teresa Buckingham of Des Moines, Clara Fee of Attica, Arnie (Mary) O’Dell of Kellogg, Bob (Lesa) O’Dell of Sully, Billy Buckingham of Newton, and Eve (Ray) Sparks of Monroe; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Sam (Francisse) Buckingham of Prairie City, Betty Jo Buckingham of Prairie City, and Sarah Ayers of Prairie City; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Edward Buckingham; two brothers, Warren Buckingham and Dave Buckingham; sister, Edna Buckingham; and a sister in infancy.

Memorials to the Church of the Brethern may be left at the funeral home or the church the morning of the service.
