Visitation: The family will greet friends from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment: Following the funeral service, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Palo Alto Cemetery.

Those left to honor Betty's memory include her two brothers, Larry (Kathryn) Beard of Newton and Lester (Barbara) Beard of Des Moines; her nieces and nephews: Karen (Gary) Stewart of Des Moines, David (Sue) Beard of Des Moines, and Gene (Jennifer) Beard of Ankeny; and many cousins.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Crystal (Holtz) Beard and her husband, Jack.

Betty was a graduate of Mingo High School. She had worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) for several years. She had been a member of the Ira United Methodist Church and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and loved cats.

Memorials to the Salvation Army Food Pantry or the Jasper County Animal Rescue League may be left at the funeral home. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.
