Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1409 S. 8th Ave. E. in Newton.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Those left to honor Betty's memory are her daughter, Penny T. (Bob) Carlson of Hudson, Colorado; her son, Steven K. (Deb) Nichols of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Jonathon E. (Cozette) Nichols, and Jaime E. (Scott) Nichols Allspach; her five great-grandchildren, Scotty W. Allspach, Alexander L. Allspach, Kaitlyn E. Allspach, Jacob E. Nichols, Jackson E. Nichols, and a new great-grandchild on the way; sister, Dorothy Failor of Newton; and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Iver and Maggie (Kidd) Anderson; husband, Earl in 1987; three brothers, Lloyd, Bertil, and Carl; and three sisters, Genevieve, Mabel, and Imogene.

Betty was a graduate of Newton High School in 1951.

Betty was a Darkroom Tech. and Clerk for 32 years for the Maytag Company, retiring in 1990. She had also worked as an Office Assistant for the Moose Lodge #923.

Betty was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, and of the Women of the Moose Chapter 3000. Betty loved being with her family. She also enjoyed reading, playing Bingo, and her work in the church.

MEMORIALS to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or the American Heart Association, or to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the church on the morning of the funeral service, or at the funeral home.
