November 16, 1941 - February 25, 2012
Newton, Iowa

Visitation: The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.

Those left to honor Joe's memory are his two sons, Joe (Ann) Lyman of Des Moines, and David (Laurie) Lyman of Newton; granddaughter, Emily Victoria Lyman of Newton; his brother, Jim (Diana) Lyman of Newton, and his two sisters, Joan (Don) Dingeman of Del Rio, Texas, and Portia Langham; and close friend and neighbor, Helen Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlyn “Speed” and Margaret (Smith) Lyman; wife, Victoria “Vicky” in 1989; and brother, Bob.

Joe served his country in the U. S. Army.

Joe was a graduate of Newton High School.

Joe worked on the Newton Police Department for 22 years, from 1962-1984. He was a member of the Iowa State Police Officers Association. Joe loved being with his family, especially his granddaughter, Emily. He also enjoyed his Midtown Café Coffee Crew, going fishing, and being a “Picker.”

MEMORIALS to the Jasper County Humane Society & Animal Rescue League or to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add; Attn: Lyman Family on the envelope. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa.
