James C. “Jim” Plumb, 67, of Newton died on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Skiff Medical Center, cared for by Skiff Hospice in Newton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials to Skiff Hospice may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home. If mailing please add, Attn: Plumb family on the envelope.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Newton; two daughters, Angela Plumb of Everett, Wash., and Laura Phipps of Heath, Texas; son, James A. “Jim” Plumb of Chelsea; his six grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Marin, Kaitlyn, Emma and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Nathanial; his three brothers, William M. “Bill” (Janet) Plumb of Newton, Larry E. Plumb and his friend, Judy Brassfield, both of Newton, and Doug (Judi) Plumb of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dick and Bob Plumb; and two sisters, Cleo Hoover and Wilda Nelson. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 12, 2012

Those left to honor Jim's memory are his wife, Kathy of Newton; two daughters, Angela Plumb of Everett, Washington and Laura Phipps of Heath, Texas; son, James A. “Jim” Plumb of Newton; his six grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Marin, Kaitlyn, Emma and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Gracie and Nathanial; his three brothers, William M. “Bill” (Janet) Plumb of Newton, Larry E. Plumb and friend Judy Brassfield, both of Newton and Doug (Judi) Plumb of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Van M. and Thelma E. (Plumb) Plumb; two brothers, Dick and Bob Plumb; and two sisters, Cleo Hoover and Wilda Nelson.

Jim worked in skilled trades at the Maytag Company for many years. He later worked as a Boiler Engineer for the State of Iowa at the State House.

Jim was a member of Newton Lodge No. 100 A.F. & A.M., he was also a member of UAW Local 997 and had served on the Newton City Council.

Jim loved being with his kids and grandkids, he also enjoyed working, riding his Harley, deep sea fishing, and farming.
