Wilbur R. Beals

Siloam Springs, Ark.- Memorial services for Wilbur Ray Beals of Quail Ridge Living Center, Siloam Springs, Ark. a former resident of Jasper County, were held Saturday, July 4, at the Center.

A pastor from Colcord, Okla., conducted services.

Cremation was held. He died July 1 at the center.

Survivors are his wife, Faye; three sons, Charley of Tulsa, Okla., Irwin of San Francisco, Calif., and Robert of Runnells; a daughter, Edith Letterman of Morrison, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Also surviving is a sister, Audrey Bailey of Grinnell.

He was preceded in death by his father, who drowned when Mr. Beals was eight years old, his mother, an infant daughter, Mildred, and three brothers, Harry, Harvey, and Ralph.

Mr. Beals, who resided south of Newton for 10 years, moved to a farm north of Mingo in 1934. He retired from farming in 1959 moving to Langley, Okla., where he resided for eight years prior to moving to Siloam Springs.

The son of Charles Edward and Charlotte Heifner Beals, he was born Aug 21, 1893 at Ira. Later the family made its home in Jerico Springs, Mo., where they resided until the death of his father.

The family returned to Newton to live. By the age of 13 Beals became an employee of the Maytag Co.

He was married to Faye Jones of Colfax April 2, 1915.
