Prairie City - Lorence W. “Pat” Bone, 71, a longtime resident of Prairie City, died Saturday evening, June 20, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Prairie City United
Methodist Church.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Jeff Bach, pastor of the Church of the Brethren south of Prairie City, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.

Memorials to the Prairie City United Methodist Church or the Prairie City Lions Club will be accepted.

The casket will not be opened at the church.
Survivors are a son, Bill, of Shenandoah, a daughter, Mary (Mrs. James) Elrod of Prairie City; five grandchildren; a brother, Harry F. Bone of Overland Park, Kan.; and a sister, Margaret (Mrs. Robert) Morrow of Montzuma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy and his wife, Lois, in May 1987.

He was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

Mr. Bone, a member of the Prairie City Lions Club, was deputy district governor and state song leader of the Lions Club.

He also was a member of Preston Masonic Lodge in Prairie City, the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines and the Des Moines Consistory.

The son of Harold and Sarah Jane Cummings Bone, he was born March 14, 1916 at Montezuma.
He was married to Lois Mason Sept 27, 1941.
He retired in 1981 after more than 40 years as an employee of Iowa Power.
