Marshalltown - Gale R. Eaton, 69, of Marshalltown, formerly of Newton, died from an intra-abdominal hemorrhage, Thursday, Jan 25, at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center in Marshalltown.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Jennifer Daniel, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery in Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call Saturday after 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in Mr. Eaton’s name.

The son of Robert H. and Alice Rexroat Eaton, he was born Jan 29, 1931 in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School. He graduated from Newton High School in 1950. On Jan 27, 1951, he married Georgette D. DeMeyer in Newton.

From 1931 to 1976, Mr Eaton lived in Newton, where he was a captain of the Newton Fire Department for 19 years, retiring in 1976. At that time, he moved to Marshalltown. He was owner of Eaton’s Suzuki in Marshalltown for 13 years, retiring in 1988 and a school bus driver for Marshalltown Community Schools for 18 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Marshalltown Square Dance Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Paula of State Center, and Tom and Jill of Marshalltown; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Willie Yeager of Newton; three grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Leatha and Ronald McClellan of Cinnaminson, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his parents
