Sarah L. “Sally” West, 86, of Runnells died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City with burial following at Lowman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Samuel and Ruth Marie (Davis) Grimes, Sarah was born on March 9, 1925 in Percy, Iowa. Sarah graduated from Swan High School. On March 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to James K. West. Sarah was a homemaker and enjoyed playing music, crafts, and loved camping with family and friends.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband, James of Runnells, her children, Sharon Yazel of Mitchellville, Sandra Curry of Runnells, Marcia Lane of Runnells, and Bonnie (Dale) Jones of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grand children as well as a brother, Alvie Grimes of Des Moines. Preceding Sally in death were her parents, a son Jimmie Dean West, five sisters and two brothers.
