Sandra J. Bird, 68, of Newton died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
A visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, a the UAW Union Hall in Newton. Memorials in Sandra’s name may be left at the Union Hall the day of the visitation or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Gary Bird Sr. of Newton; one daughter, Jackie White of Des Moines; two sons, Jerry Bird of Newton and Gary Bird Jr. of Newton; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson, Bentley; her brother and sisters, Richard Dean Thompson of Newton, Rena Miller (Linda Roovaart) of Newton and Linda (Steve) Long of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Ila “Lucky” Thompson of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oron and Colleen (Rexroot) Thompson; two brothers, Johnny Thompson and Rex Thompson; and a sister-in-law, Linda Thompson.
