Janice E. Butler, 59, of 2108 N. 3rd Ave. E., died of pneumonia, Thursday, Sept. 16, at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held today at the Community Heights Alliance Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Newton with the Rev. Ed Lord, associate pastor, officiating. Burial was at Newton Union Cemetery,

Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

The daughter of Carl L. and Marvel M. Hitchler Clement, she was born June 10, 1940, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School in 1958. She married Jerry L. Butler Sept. 17, 1961, in Newton.

A lifelong resident of Newton, Mrs. Butler worked as a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jolene Berstler and Jane Butler, both of Newton and Julie Criley of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren; a sister, Caroline Rasmussen of Newton; her mother; and special friends, Terry McGinley of Kansas City, Mo. and Rod Warnke of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her father.
