James Allin Utterback, 71, of 2425 N. E. 52nd Court, Altoona, died of heart ailment Yuesday at Norwalk Manor. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Altoona Funeral Home. Burial will be in Altoona Cemetery.

Mr. Utterback was born in Grinnell. He retired last year as a commercial artist for Dilly Manufacturing, was an Army veteran World War II and the Korean War and had been a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas of Norwalk and Jeff of Hartford; two daughters, Kim Johnston and Lisa Tate, and his mother, Edith Utterback, all of Des Moines; a sister, Marilyn Potz of Orlando, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will visit with friends after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
