Perry - David L. Cockerton, 55, of Perry, formerly of Newton, died of heart failure, Monday, March 22, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Memorials to the American Heart Association will be accepted.
The son of Edward and Wanda Buckley Cockerton, he was born Feb. 6, 1944, in Newton. He graduated from Newton High School in 1962.
A longtime resident of Newton, he also resided in Des Moines before moving to Perry in 1980. Mr. Cockerton was employed by Ginsberg's Furniture in Des Moines for several years and worked as a certified nurses aide at a nursing home. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Perry.
Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Hope and William and Connie, all of Newton; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dennis McCooms of Melrose; an aunt, Elizabeth Young of Newton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ronald Cross of Perry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
