Ida Gardner Dies Thursday; Rites Monday
Mrs. William (Ida) Gardner, 87, 724 E 4th S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday afternoon at Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the United Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. W. W. Johnson, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Loehr Funeral Chapel after noon Saturday.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Frank Hardenbrook of Newton, and Mrs. Hoyt Woody of Reasnor; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and the Gold Age Club.
The daughter of Thomas and Martha Hanson Smith, she was born Oct. 30, 1883, in Newton and attended Jasper County schools.
She was married to William Gardner March 3, 1903, in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, December 18, 1970, page 6
