Ella Hotchkiss, Former Newton Resident, Dies
Mrs. Edgar (Ella) Hotchkiss, 88, of San Diego, Calif., a former resident of Newton, died Monday in Dan Diego.
Funeral services will be held in San Diego and graveside rites in Newton.
Toland-Wallace Funeral Home is handling Newton arrangements.
Survivors are two brothers, Robert Woodrow of San Diego and George Merritt Woodrow of Toronto, Canada; a sister Mabel Pickens of Newton; a niece, Margery Hamlet of Stockton, Calif., and a nephew Walter Woodrow of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert Wendell, and a brother, Maurice.
Mrs. Hotchkiss was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, a charter member of the church's Plymouth Guild, and a member of the Newton Country Club, the EOW and the Newton Woman's Club.
The daughter of John and Phoebe Woodrow, she was born Nov. 16, 1887 in Newton and attended Newton schools.
