Mrs. Joe Koon died at Newton, Monday, May 30th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Patterson. She had been in poor health for years. Funeral services were conducted June 1st, on her 67th birthday anniversary at the Bethel church by the pastor, Rev. Albert Johnson. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery. Eunice Neighbors was born June 2, 1865, on a farm near Bethel Church and most of her life was spent there. She was united in marriage to Joe Koon, Aug. 20, 1886. To this union thirteen children were born. Four died in infancy. The husband, and nine children survive, Clarence of California; Edward of Baxter; Wm of Newton; Warren of Tyler, Texas; Mrs. Pearl Swan of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Verne Patterson of Newton; Mrs. Elizabeth Cox of Kellogg, Mrs Forest Monahan of Baxter. There are 38 grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Jake Wastier of Waterloo; Mrs. Wm. Smith of Los Angeles, and one foster sister, Mrs. Lily Seely Ball, of Montesano, Wash., and other relatives.
Mrs Koon was a life long member of the Bethel Methodist church and active as long as health permitted.
