Dean M. Woody, 81 of Monroe died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Heritage Manor in Newton.
A celebration of life service in honor of Dean will be on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends following the service during a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be given to the Monroe United Methodist Church, and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Mark and Thelma (Caulkins) Woody, Dean Milton Woody was born on Jan. 23, 1930, at the family farm near Monroe. Dean attended and graduated from Monroe High School. On Dec. 2, 1955, Dean was united in marriage with Virginia Schnug at the Monroe United Methodist Church. They made their home near Monroe, where Dean was a farmer. Dean enjoyed horses and loved being in the outdoors. He was a friendly, outgoing person and enjoyed his many friends and his family. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church.
Those left to celebrate his memory are his wife, Virginia Woody of Monroe; son, Brian Woody, and his wife, Kris, of Monroe; daughter, Jennifer Terpstra of Monroe; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Jacob Woody; one brother, Jon (Carolyn) Woody of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beverly; one nephew, Steven; and an infant niece, Markay.
