Ronald “Pappy” King, 58, of Newton died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in Ron’s name may be left at the funeral home.
He was born April 12, 1953, in Pattonsburg, Mo., to Robert L. and Emma F. King. He graduated from high school in Trenton, Mo., in 1971. On Oct. 15, 1972, he was united in marriage with Linda Burrell. They later divorced. He then shared years of companionship with Diane Clabaugh.
He was the owner of O’Pappy’s, where he did auto and small engine repair, and was a member of the Jasper County Church of Christ. He truly enjoyed working with motors, going to church and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by three sons, Vince (Karen) King, Bradd (Angela) Vancannon and Jayson (Jessica Van Sant) King, all of Newton; three daughters, Kathy King and Rhonda (Chad) Hoffman, all of Newton, and Sharrah (Welch) King of Sedalia, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; his father, Robert King of Jamesport, Mo.; and his siblings, Wayne (Joy) King, Jim (Cindy) King, Steve (Jenelle) King, Jerry King, Betty Benge, Marilyn (Gerald) Tolen, Carol Burrell and Debbie King; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma; grandson, Billy; sister, Rita; and brother, Charles.
