Jacquelyn C. (Van Wyk) Gosnell, 51, of Pella passed away Sunday afternoon at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella.
A funeral service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26, at the First Federated Fellowship Church in Pella. Private interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Visitation will begin Wednesday afternoon at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m.
For those desiring, memorials may be given for the Joel Osteen Ministries, the Pella Parks Department Memorial Program or the Gideon’s International.
Jackie, a real estate agent, is survived by her daughter, Jennifer E. Gosnell of Pella; her parents, Dr. Kenneth W. and Patricia A. (Vander Hoek) Van Wyk of Pella; and her siblings, Dr. Alex and Sharon Van Wyk of Altoona, Rhonda and Tom Hill of Forest, Va., Douglas and Heather Van Wyk of Eagan, Minn., and Tony and Mark Headlee of Urbandale.

Jacquelyn Christina Van Wyk was the first of five children that were born to Kenneth Wayne and Patricia Ann (Vander Hoek) Van Wyk. She was born in Normandy, Missouri on May 31, 1959. Jackie was educated in the Pella Public Schools at Pella, Iowa. She attended the Lincoln Grade School and Pella High School. During high school she was a member of the golf team and the Duchess. Before she even had her drivers license, she took flying lessons and flew solo at the age of 14. Jackie graduated with the Class of 1977 and then attended the Des Moines Area Community College in Des Moines, Iowa. Later she enrolled in Bob Jones University at Greenville, South Carolina where she did general studies for 1 year. Jackie then worked as a receptionist in several doctors offices in Des Moines. In 1985 she and Dr. John Gosnell were united in marriage and to this union one daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth, was born on June 24, 1988. Jackie continued working in Des Moines and was a Mary Kay Consultant. She later became the receptionist for Mary Van Wyk at her Real Estate Agency and moved to Pella in 1995. Jackie eventually obtained her Real Estate license in 1999 and was currently a Real Estate Agent for Home Realty in Pella. In conjunction with this position she worked with her parents, Dr. Kenneth and Patricia Van Wyk, at the Van Wyk Chiropractic Clinic. While working there Jackie also was responsible for producing educational tapes for Chiropractic Assistants. Jackie had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and on Mother's Day, May 8, 2011, was told it had metastasized. She and her family accepted this prognosis and were pursuing their options. However, on Sunday, May 22, 2011, she passed away at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House in Pella. Jackie would have celebrated her 52nd birthday on May 31.
Those who will cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennie; her parents, Dr. Kenneth and Patricia Van Wyk of Pella; her four younger siblings and their families: Dr. Alex and Sharon Van Wyk of Altoona, Iowa; Rhonda and Tom Hill of Forest,Virginia; Douglas and Heather Van Wyk and their children, Anna, Jacob and Jessica of Eagan, Minnesota; Tonya and Mark Headlee and their children, Alexa and Kaleb of Urbandale, Iowa; and her paternal grandmother, Bertha L. (Van Zomeren) Van Wyk of Monroe, Iowa. Jackie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arie and Christina (Vanden Heuvel) Vander Hoek; and her paternal grandfather, Willis Van Wyk. Jackie was a creative person and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid lover of nature.
