Mrs. Josephine Gorgas Died Sunday Noon

Mrs. Josephine Gorgas, 84, died about noon Sunday at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines following a stroke suffered almost three weeks ago at the home of her son William in Des Moines. She had been in failing health for some time.
Mrs. Gorgas was born in Moravia, Austria, March 18, 1868, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wickerak. She came to the United States in 1900 and settled first in Monmouth, Pa. She later came to Iowa and for thirty five years has been a resident of Colfax vicinity.
She was united in marriage to Martin Gorgas and they were blessed with nine children.
Surviving are the sons and daughters, John Gorgas of Colfax; Mrs. Pauline McGovern of Mt. Vernon, New York; Frank Gorgas of Lockwood, Ohio; Mary M. Gorgas of Santa Cruz, California;Joseph Gorgas of Newton; Henry Gorgas of Youngstown, Ohio; Thomas Gorgas of Waterloo; William Gorgas of Des Moines; Mrs. Anna Jackson of Omaha, Nebraska. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a host of friends also mourn her passing.
The Rosary service will be at the Bumgardner Chapel at 8 o'clock Thursday evening and the funeral service will be from the Immaculate Conception church in Colfax at 10 a.m. on Friday morning with Father Walter McEleney officiating.
Internment will be in the Colfax cemetery.

Josephine Gorgas Rites

Last rites for Mrs. Josephine Gorgas were held at 10 o'clock Friday morning from the Immaculate Conception church with Father J. W. McEleney officiating.
Mrs. Charles Mindham, Mrs. V. D. Main and Mrs Jennie Bridie were in charge of the flowers.
Pallbearers were Richard Williams, Charles Mindham, E. G. Kvasny, Joe Kvasny, Henry Rich, and Larry Meisner.
Internment was in the Colfax cemetery.
Mrs. Gorgas, who was born in Moravia, Austria, died December 28th in the home of her son in Des Moines at the age of 84.
