James L. Bricker passed away on May 6 after a brief battle with cancer.
A time of remembrance/visitation with family will be at the D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in Independence, Mo.
James Leslie Bricker, son of Leslie F. and Mary P. Bricker was born July 13, 1923, in Newton, Iowa, and began his new journey on May 6, 2011. He was united in marriage to May A. Grant in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sept. 27, 1947. To his union two children were born. James resided in Independence, Mo., most of his adult life, retired from Honeywell (Bendix) in 1988 after 30 years of service and spent his retirement years volunteering at Independence Regional Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, father and brother. Those left to embrace his memory are his two daughters, son-in-laws, three grandchildren, one sister and 10 nieces and nephews. Debbie and JE Hess of Maryville, Mo., with daughter Kristin Hess Wilson and husband Chris Wilson of Kansas City, Mo. Susan and Glen Steveson of Independence, Mo., with sons Austin Baker and wife Ashley Ream Baker of Los Angeles, Calif., and Eric Baker of Fate, Texas. Sister, Helen Wade of Newton, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest contributions to Groves Community Hospice of Independence, Mo. Arrang: D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel (816) 252-8900.
