Dies at Early Hour Today

Aaron Hackney, pioneer Jasper county resident, died at his home near Amboy at 2:15 this morning. About five weeks ago he fell and it is thought that the injuries suffered by reason of this fall, together with the infirmities incident to advancing senility, were the causes of his death.

Mr. Hackney was born January 29, 1836, in Blount county, Tennessee and came to this county more than fifty years ago, he having lived on his present residence for more than a half century. He was one of the prominent farmers of the county and it was his pleasure to see the county grow from a sparsely settled country to its present thickly populated condition. After coming to Jasper county he was married to Jane Hinshaw, who died October 16, 1883. For many years Mr. Hackney has been a member and an attendant of the Friends church.

He is survived by four sons George, of Des Moines; Lewis, of Laurel; Charles, at home; and Henry four and a half miles north of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Hill, Marshalltown, Miss Mary at home, two brothers, Elijah Amboy and Lewis, in Tennessee; and one sister, Mrs. F. T. Lindley, of Idaho. Ruth, a daughter, died August 6, 1899.

There had been no funeral arrangements announced this morning.

The funeral will be held at the Friends church at Amboy Wednesday afternoon at 2:30.

Jane Hinshaw was the daughter of Evan and Nancy Hinshaw. Her sister, Mary married Aaron's brother, Elijah Hackney.

Aaron was born 29 Jan 1836 at Friendsville, Blount Co., Tenn., and died 9 Sep 1919 in Newton, Ia.
