Former Newton (IA) Man Dies in California

Chas. Coon has just received word of the death of his brother-in-law, Mr. Thos. Salter, at Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday the 19th inst. Mr. Salter was a partner, we believe, with J. M. Woodrow in the insurance business back in the sixties, and in 1866 was married to Miss Gussie Metsker, a sister of Mrs. Chas.
