The sorrow, which has recently come to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Young, has touched a responsive chord of the tenderest sympathy in the heart of a large circle of friends.

Their little 7-year-old son, Guy – the only child that God had given them, and the idol of the household, was attacked by diphtheria, and on Saturday, just before noon, the sweet spirit returned to the God who gave it.

Guy was a bright, winsome little fellow, with the sunniest of dispositions, and with a heart full of love for everybody.

The funeral occurred at the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. V. Cowan, and was attended by a class of young men in the M. E. Sabbath school of which Mr. Young is a member. ~ The Newton [IA]Record, Friday, February 28, 1896, Page 1, Column 2
