Fred Bohne Dies At Age of 71; Newton Farmer
Fred Bohne, 71, bachelor farmer who lived in the Newton vicinity nearly all of his life, died this morning at University hospital in Iowa City where he was a patient.
Mr. Bohne was born Jan. 22, 1861 in Meene, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Bohne and the family moved to this vicinity when he was a small child. He attended rural schools in this county and farmed all of his life, living north of Newton.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical church located eight miles north of Newton. Funeral services are pending. Morgan Funeral Home will be in charge.
Survivors are two sisters, Mary Bohne, Mrs. Rosa McQuiston, and three brothers, Henry, Charlie and Herman, all of this area.

Funeral Rites Monday Here for Fred Bohne
Funeral services for Fred Bohne, 71, Newton farmer who died yesterday at University Hospitals in Iowa City, will be held Monday afternoon at two o’clock at Morgan Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Rev. Emil Burrichter of St. John’s Evangelical church and burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Bohne, a bachelor, lived in Newton practically his entire life.
