Adolph Ebert services set for Wednesday

KELLOGG -- Funeral services for Adolph W. Ebert of Kellogg, a member of the Kellogg City Council and board of directors of the Kellogg Elevator, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Newton.

The Rev. Morris Hay, pastor of the Hickory Grove Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Memorial contributions to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church will be accepted.

He died Sunday at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Survivors are his wife, Byrdie; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Logsdon of Las Vegas, Nev., and Mrs. Pauline Andrews of Brooklyn; a brother, G. A. "Gus" Ebert of Kellogg; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Campbell and Dora Ebert.

Mr. Ebert had been a garage mechanic in Newton and Kellogg and a farmer in the Kellogg area.

An Army veteran of World War I, he was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kellogg, 50-year member of the Ben Morgan American Legion Post 355 and a longtime member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

The son of Frederick and Caroline Bolger Ebert, he was born April 17, 1897 in Jasper County and attended Jasper County schools.

He was married to Byrdie Faircloth July 6, 1939 in Des Moines.

Adolph W. Ebert, 83, of Kellogg died Sunday, June 15. 1980 at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reese Funeral Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. Morris Hay of the Hickory Grove Church officiating. Burial was at Our Silent City Cemetery, Kellogg.

Mr. Ebert was a member of the Kellogg City Council and the board of directors of the Kellogg Elevator.

The son of Frederick and Caroline Bolger Ebert, he was born April 17, 1897, in Jasper County. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Ben Morgan American Legion Post No. 355, and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.
