Ernest M. Shultz, 63, of Monroe died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Skiff Medical Center in the Monarch Wing in Newton.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at the Monroe United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Edward S. and Mildred C. (Layton) Shultz, Ernie was born on January 5, 1948, in Osceola, Iowa. Ernie graduated from Monroe High School in 1966. On May 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to Iva Bingham. Ernie worked for The Underground for 26 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, trips to Florida, walking on the beach but his greatest joy was while at work.
Those left to honor his memory; his wife, Iva; his children, Mickey (Holly) Shultz of Waukee, Shelly (Kenny) Noah of Monroe, and Bret Shultz of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Bobbi Shook and Ashley Noah, and two sisters, Linda (Bob) Marshall and Carolyn Penning both of Newton. Preceding him in death were his parents, a son Edward B. Shultz, a sister, Kathy Shultz and twin brothers, Garry and Larry Shultz.
