On Thursday, March 3, 2011, Joyce E. (Kreager) Provin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
A public graveside service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Wittemberg Cemetery, 6028 E. 8th St. N. in rural Newton. There will be a gathering at the Wittemberg Church immediately following the graveside service for family and friends.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Hospice of Jasper County. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Joyce was a graduate of Newton High School in 1948. She also had attended Central College in Pella. She started her working career as a teacher in the Jasper County Country Schools of rural Newton. Later she worked as a paralegal in law offices in Newton. Joyce then worked as a clerk for the Maytag Company for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Joyce loved and enjoyed being with her family. She enjoyed gardening flowers, doing word puzzles, working on wildlife and various bird jig saw puzzles, along with sewing and reading, Joyce also enjoyed being out in nature, watching the birds and wildlife, and vacationing, especially in Minnesota.
Those left to honor Joyce’s memory are her husband, Ed; two sons, Joel (Alison) Provin, and Mike Provin; daughter, Lynn (Steve) Gifford, all of Newton; her six grandchildren, Emily Provin, Ryan Provin, Brooke Gifford, Colton Gifford, David DeHart, and Paul DeHart; two sisters, Jane McDaniel, and Jean (Dave) Hagedorn, all of Newton; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
