The daughter of William and Louise (Mailand) Kintz, Virginia was born on June 2, 1921 in Colfax, Iowa. On July 3, 1936 Virginia was united in marriage with Paul Hill in Missouri at the age of 15. Over the years she has enjoyed many things. Early in her life she taught herself to play guitar and she sang publically. Her talent as a singer and musician helped the family during the trying times of the Depression. Virginia enjoyed her church (Colfax United Methodist Church), and her friends, especially the Mables and Patsy.Virginia participated in the Senior Citizen meals and events and met her late in life companion and friend, Jim Chambers. They spent many happy times together. Her other joys were coffee times with friends, playing cards, going to garage sales, and writing poetry.
Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother who had meager funds but always made things work. She always had extra treats for the neighborhood. She taught her children to have good work ethics and to stay out of trouble. Clean hair, polished shoes and going to Sunday school were a "must" with her.
Those left to honor Virginia's memory are her children; Charlotte Alderman of Colfax, Dennis (Judy) Hill of Sunset, Utah, Lynda (Keith) Hidok of Colfax, and Barbara (Doug) Holdefer of Pleasant Hill, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and a very special son-in-law, Carl Alderman.
