J. A. Booth, War Veteran, Dies Today At 56

COLFAX – Double pneumonia and heart complications proved fatal early this morning at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton to James Alfred Booth, 56.
Mr. Booth, who made his home here with his niece, Mrs. Claude Stevens, became ill three weeks ago and the following week was admitted to the hospital where he had since been under treatment. His death came at 1:30 a.m.
Funeral services have tentatively been set for Wednesday afternoon at the Colfax First Baptist church. The body will be in state at the Bumgardner funeral home.
In addition to his niece, surviving relatives include two brothers, Albert and David Booth, both of Colfax.
Mr. Booth, son of the late Andrew and Nancy Booth, was engaged in mining until 15 years ago when he began his work at the Maytag factory, where he had continued until his recent illness.
He attended the Colfax Baptist church, was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Redman’s lodge, and of the American Legion, having served overseas during World War I.

COLFAX – Funeral services for James Alfred Booth, 56, who died Monday of double pneumonia and complications will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Colfax Baptist church with the Rev. Albert Vander Ploeg officiating. Members of the local post of the American Legion will be in charge of graveside rites. Interment will be in Highland cemetery.
