Frank F. “Red” Reynolds, 79, of Newton died on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
As per Red’s request, he has been cremated, and no services will be held. To celebrate Red’s life, his family will greet friends with rolls and coffee from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
Memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Muscular Dystrophy Association may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Newton; two daughters, Debbie Neff of Grinnell and Patty Morton of Newton; his granddaughter, Courtney (Scott) Anderson of Monroe; great-grandson, Brix Anderson of Monroe; his two step-grandchildren, Kerry (Trudy) Neff of Des Moines and Katie (Adam) Offerman of Des Moines; two brothers, Francis “Butch” (Vi) Reynolds of Newton and Sylvestor “Jr” (Pat) Reynolds of Newton; his many special nieces and nephews, including nephew, Randy Clement; and Red’s “other daughter,” Patsy Britton of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Edna Kay; eight sisters; and four brothers.

Frank F. "Red" Reynolds was born November 08, 1931 to Sylvestor A. and Lula E. (Gilbert) Reynolds.
His siblings that preceded him in death are sisters, Bernetta Reynolds, Marie Eilander, Eva Henning, Darlene Guthrie, Lorna Horton, Thelma Allspach, Mabel Kangas, and Janice Pruitt; and brothers, Gerald, Dale, Virgil and Howard Reynolds.
Red served his country in both the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Army.
Red was a stock car driver at the Newton dirt race track. Red loved his family deeply, especially his granddaughter, Courtney and great-grandson, Brix. He will be remembered for his storytelling of stock car racing and the old police officer days. Red could talk for hours on those two subjects. In recent years, Red could be found with his “coffee buddies” most mornings and some afternoons at the Midtown Café seeing who could tell the biggest story.
