Doris Rose Jansen, 79, of Billings, Mont., formerly of Baxter, Iowa, died of natural causes Feb. 7, 2011.
A memorial service will be in Billings at Smith Funeral Chapels on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. Another memorial service will be held later in Baxter, with burial at American Veteran’s Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa.
Doris was born to Lena and William Geer in Coin, Iowa. She was a teacher in Iowa for 17 years and taught a variety of grades. Doris was a member of the Iowa Horse Shows Association, the Iowa Rose Society, Celiac Society, The Women’s Fellowship, The Red Hat Club, Book Clubs, teacher organizations and several other organizations.
Her husband, Raymond, preceded her in death, as well as her two sisters, Ellen Wilcox and Grace Snyder.
Survivors include her two sons, Zane and his wife Sonia of Sunburst, Mont., and Zale of Iowa. She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Zachary and his fiancée Amanda of Opheim, Mont., Zana and Eric Wright of Billings, Mont., and their daughter Zaria, who was the joy of her life, and Zabrina of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by two siblings, Bill and his wife Judy and family of Galesburg, Ill., and her sister, Betty of Elko, Nev. She is also survived by a great-aunt of Joplin, Mo. Doris had many nieces and nephews, including Joyce and Dave Nelson and family of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She is greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
