Scott B. Pierce, 53, of Newton died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Skiff Medical Center — Monarch Wing.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the First Baptist Church in Colfax, with burial following at Franklin Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Scott B. Pierce Memorial Fund, and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
The son of Eugene and Marjorie (Hill) Pierce, Scott was born on Dec. 28, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1976. On Jan. 10, 1997, he was united in marriage to Lisa Tilghman in Newton. Scott enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping or hunting mushrooms. His greatest joy was being around his kids.
Those left to honor his memory include wife Lisa, daughter Kodi Jene and step-daughter Samantha Brown, all of Newton; a grandson, Keaton Scott Brown; his mother, Marjorie Pierce of Colfax; his siblings, Ronda (Pat) Teed, Rodney (Sheryl) Pierce and Margena (Ed) Doty, all of Colfax, and Steven (Jodie) Pierce of Eldon; and his faithful dog, Elvis. Preceding him in death was his father, Eugene.
