Roger A. Rasmussen, 68, of Newton died on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the Hospice of Jasper County’s Monarch Wing in Newton.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Penny of Newton; two daughters, Tracy Rasmussen (Jimmy Fane) of Newton and Kerry (Jason) Heryford of Newton; his granddaughter, Rylee Heryford; two brothers, Ed (Caroline) Rasmussen of Newton and Les Rasmussen of Newton; his sister, Diana (Irv) Carlson of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, and niece, Carol Ann Rasmussen.

Roger A. Rasmussen was born January 10, 1943.
He was preceded by his parents, Vernon and Lucille (Hann) Rasmussen; and niece, Carol Ann Rasmussen.
Roger served his country in the U. S. Army from 1966-1968 during the Vietnam War. Roger was a graduate of Newton High School in 1961.
Roger enjoyed more than anything spending time with his family, especially the time spent with his granddaughter, Rylee. He spent many years enjoying mushroom hunting, camping, motorcycle riding, fishing, and hunting.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.
Interment: Immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Military Honors by the American Legion Post 111.
