Hazel I. (Binegar) Sutton, 75, of Newton died on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Easter Seals/Camp Sunnyside may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors include her two sons, Charley H. (Karla) Sutton of Newton and Doug (Carla) Sutton of Newton; her daughter, Cindy (Bruce) Matsen of Newton; seven grandchildren, Doug Sutton, Cory Sutton, Nick (Suzanne) Matsen, Anna Sutton, Mason Sutton, Lisa Chapman and Brenda (Marty) Allspach; her six great-grandchildren, Tasha Chapman, Ryan Chapman, Zackery Sutton, Hailey Sutton, Scott Matsen and Reed Matsen; brother, Donald “Butch” Binegar of Newton; four sisters, Eleanor Madoll of Grand Rapids, Minn., Pauline (John) Plowman of Newton, Patty (Harry) Farr of Newton and Alice Farr of Newton; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Luella L. (Sanders) Binegar; husband, Ted, in 2007; and brother, Leonard Binegar.

Hazel I. Binegar was born January 15, 1935.
Hazel currently was an inserter for Rock Communications; she had also been a cook for many years at the Holiday Inn in Newton. Hazel was the creator of the “Navajo” taco.
Hazel loved and enjoyed her family, she also enjoyed sports, and Hazel was a Chicago Cubs, UNI Panthers and Newton Cardinals Fan. She also enjoyed cooking and was an early bird at garage sales.

Interment: Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
