Hilda L. Nelson, 92, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, in Ankeny.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, at Pursel Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Hilda was born Jan. 18, 1918, to Elmer and Minnie (Sash) Paul in Laurel, Iowa. She was raised in the Laurel and Marshalltown areas. She graduated from Laurel High School. She was united in marriage to Clifford L. “Swede” Nelson in April of 1938 in Marshalltown. He died May 20, 1986. She was a homemaker. Hilda loved to quilt and complete various crafts including making dolls and their clothing. She was a great cook.
Hilda will be missed by her son-in-law, Ron Prahl of Ankeny; granddaughter, Emily (Jim) Robidoux of Ankeny; and two grandsons, Paul Robidoux and Jake Nelson Robidoux. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her only daughter, Carlene Prahl; and a brother, Elgin Paul.
