Josephine “Jo” or “Josie” Brue, 88, of Mason City, formerly of Newton, died on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to Hospice of North Iowa may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors include her seven grandchildren, Jack (Geri) Schade of Rudd, Iowa, Jeff Schade of Mason City, James (Stephanie) Schade of Eaton, Colo., Jerry Lee (Lori) Schade of Mason City, John (Cheryl) Schade of Branson, Mo., Joseph Schade of Rockford, Iowa, and Carol Ann Schade of Mason City; 18 great-grandchildren, Alvina, Joshua, Jerris, Dillon, Cacharel, Joslynn, Matthew, Bradyn, Lindsey, Shelbey, Elexis, Nathan, Leeland, Harley, Kayla, Jayden, Jordyn and Savannah; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Schade of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morg and Bessie (Welch) Wynn; her husband, Henry Brue, in 1993; and a son, Fred Schade, in 2009.

Josephine "Jo or Josie" Brue was born January 29, 1922.
Josephine worked for the Vernon Company in Newton for 36 years, retiring in 1984. She had also worked for the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Burlington, Iowa. Josephine was a member of the VFW Post 1655 Ladies Auxiliary, The First Lutheran Church, Vernon 25 year Club, and UAW Local 997.
Memorials to Hospice of North Iowa may be left at the funeral home. Interment at the Newton Union Cemetery in Newton.
