Rule Suicide In 2 Kellogg Deaths

The deaths of an elderly Kellogg couple have been ruled a double suicide, according to Jasper County Medical Examiner Dr. Harold A. Van Hofwegen.

Results of an autopsy performed in Des Moines showed that Clyde Sonderegger, 71, and his wife Naomi, 63, "did not die from natural causes," said Van Hofwegan.  The medical examiner said it was indicated that the Sondereggers ingested lethal doses of barbiturates.

The couple were found dead in bed Monday morning in their home behind their insurance business they ran in Kellogg.

Condition of the bodies indicated that deaths occurred Saturday night.  An empty barbiturate bottle was found at the scene.
