Mack Alexander Wade, 84, of Colfax died Friday, February 21, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, where he had resided since 1993.Funeral services were held Monday, February 24, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax, with the Rev. Danny DuRocher, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church of Colfax, officiating. Burial was in McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.Mr. Wade was born June 3, 1912, in Rockwell City, the son of Sidney and Anna Stewart Wade.A lifelong resident of Colfax, he married Stella Wagner Poulson March 5, 1966 in Colfax.Mr. Wade was a veteran of World War II, having joined the Army in May of 1943. He was wounded while serving as a combat engineer in Normandy and was discharged in 1945. He also was a Maytag Company retiree.He was a member of the Colfax American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Newton.Survivors include his wife of Colfax; two brothers, George and LeRoy Wade, both of Newton, a sister, Mary Harmon of Lodi, California; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents,; three brothers, Jackie William and Guy (Pitts) Wade, and four sisters, Dorothy Howell (Colfax), Leona Banghart (Newton), Ruby Murray (Newton) and Leatha Eddy (Homeland, California).
