Sarah Johnston, 84, Found Dead In Bed This Morning

PRAIRIE CITY - Mrs. Sarah L. Johnston, 84, died during her sleep at her home in Prairie City sometime during the night, Monday or early this morning.

Ralph Toland, county coroner, who was called on the case, pronounced death was due to a heart attack and senility. Mrs. Johnston, daughter of Samuel and Mary Hunnel, was born Nov. 2, 1861, in Jasper County and had been ill since suffering a stroke last May.

She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church of Prairie City.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. D. C. Wilson and Mrs. Raybur Brashaer, both of Prairie City; two sons, Orrie Johnston of Prairie City and J. D. Johnston of Vancouver, Wash.; also four sisters, Mrs. W. W. Mowrey of Niangua, Mo., Mrs. Ines Neilson of Slayton, Minn., Mrs. Maud Fortune of Des Moines, and Mrs. Winifred Shimel of Elkland, Mo.; and a brother, J. N. Hunnel of Emmetsburg, Ia.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of the son from Washington who will leave by plane today. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, (month not given), 22, 1946
